PF PENSIONS ON HIGHER WAGES

  1. ADV. ADOOR PRAKASH:
    Will the Minister of LABOUR AND EMPLOYMENT be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is aware that majority of employees and pensioners across the country who opted for PF pensions on higher wages that have not been granted the higher pension by the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization;

(b) if so, the reasons for delay even after lapse of two years after Supreme Court ordered for higher EPF pension in proportion to salary;

(c) the number of applications received for higher pension and granted as on date, State-wise; and

(d) whether the Government has taken any immediate measures to process the pending applications without delay?

(a) to (d): The cases of Pension on Higher Wages are being processed on the basis of the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court dated 04.11.2022.

A Functionality was developed by EPFO for filing online applications for validation/joint option. The online facility was extended to members/pensioners/employers on 26.02.2023 which was extended till 11.07.2023. The date for employers for forwarding the joint application for higher pension was extended 30.09.2023 and subsequently till 31.05.2024. Further, a last chance was provided to all employers to forward the applications for pension on higher wages by 31.01.2025.

A total of 17,48,768 applications were submitted by Members/ Pensioners. Out of these, as on 28.01.2025, demand notices i.e. intimation to members to deposit balance amounts for higher pension eligibility, have been issued in 1,65,621 cases and 21,885 Pension Payment Orders (PPO) have been issued out of the said number of applications. The disposal of the outstanding cases is being closely monitored and clarifications to Field Offices to dispose cases have been issued to expedite the process.
