MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu Urges SBI Chairman to Address Long-Pending Employee Demands and Halt Outsourcing
New Delhi: In a significant move highlighting growing concerns over public sector banking employment, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party Floor Leader, Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, has officially written to the Chairman of the State Bank of India (SBI). The letter, dated May 14, 2026, calls for the immediate consideration of long-pending employee grievances and a return to regular recruitment practices within the country’s largest public sector lender.
The intervention follows a formal memorandum submitted to the MP by the All India State Bank of India Staff Federation (AISBISF), raising alarms over systemic changes in the bank’s human resource management.
Key Concerns Raised in the Representation
The communication highlights several critical issues currently affecting the workforce and operational framework of SBI:
- Large-Scale Outsourcing of Permanent Roles: The letter expresses serious concern over the increasing trend of outsourcing core, permanent jobs. It notes that the non-recruitment of foundational staff, specifically Messengers and Armed Guards, has been a persistent issue for several years.
- Impact on Social Justice and Youth Employment: MP Devarayalu emphasized that the absence of regular, formal recruitment cycles directly impacts employment opportunities for aspiring youth, particularly those belonging to SC/ST, OBC, rural, and economically weaker sections (EWS) who rely heavily on public sector hiring.
- Operational and Security Risks: The representation warns that an excessive dependence on an outsourced workforce could compromise bank accountability, institutional efficiency, and crucially, customer safety—especially regarding security-related roles like Armed Guards.
- Non-Implementation of Agreed Service Conditions: The federation has also flagged that previously agreed-upon service conditions between management and the staff union have not been fully implemented.
Recognition of Employee Contributions
In his appeal, the TDP leader strongly defended the dedication of the bank’s permanent workforce, explicitly citing their pivotal role during national challenges.
“SBI employees have rendered outstanding service to the nation, especially during demonetisation and the COVID-19 pandemic. The growth and success of SBI have been built upon the dedication and hard work of its employees over several decades.”

Call to Action
The letter concludes with a formal urge to the SBI management to “sympathetically consider the genuine demands” of the All India State Bank of India Staff Federation. The MP has requested the Chairman to take swift and necessary steps toward restoring regular recruitment pathways and protecting the established service conditions of the employees.
With banking unions across the country increasingly raising voices against casualization and outsourcing of banking jobs, this political backing from a prominent Lok Sabha floor leader adds substantial weight to the employees’ ongoing struggle for job security and fair recruitment practices.
