The All India Bank Officers’ Confederation (AIBOC) has formally reached out to the Prime Minister’s Office, advocating for the swift implementation of a five-day work week across the banking sector. By framing this long-standing demand as a strategic move for national austerity and energy conservation, the confederation argues that reducing operational days will significantly lower the carbon footprint and overhead costs of financial institutions. Furthermore, AIBOC asserts that this shift will bolster public efficiency and employee well-being, aligning the Indian banking industry with global standards while ensuring that digital banking infrastructure continues to serve the nation’s needs without interruption.
